Jantar Mantar is an important historical and scientific monument located in Connaught Place, New Delhi. It was built in 1724 by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur. The main purpose of Jantar Mantar was to study astronomical positions and measure time. The observatory consists of large stone instruments designed to observe the movement of the sun, moon, and planets.
These instruments were used to calculate time, predict eclipses, and study celestial bodies. Even today, many of the instruments work accurately. Jantar Mantar shows the advanced scientific knowledge of ancient India. It also reflects the interest of Indian rulers in science, mathematics, and astronomy during earlier times.
