Jama Masjid is one of the largest and most important mosques in India. It is located in Old Delhi near Chandni Chowk. The mosque was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan between 1644 and 1656. It is made of red sandstone and white marble and can accommodate more than 25,000 people at one time in its courtyard.
The mosque has three grand gates, four tall towers, and two high minarets that are about 40 meters tall. From the top of the minarets, visitors can get a beautiful view of Old Delhi. The large open courtyard, marble flooring, and detailed carvings reflect the greatness of Mughal architecture. Jama Masjid is not only a place of worship but also an important symbol of India’s religious and cultural heritage.
