Jodhpur, popularly known as the Blue City, is one of the most historic cities in Rajasthan. It was founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha, the chief of the Rathore clan. The city developed around the magnificent Mehrangarh Fort, which rises dramatically above the surrounding landscape.

Jodhpur is famous for its blue-painted houses, magnificent forts, royal palaces, historic temples, traditional markets, and rich Marwari culture. The city is also sometimes called the Sun City because of its bright and sunny weather.

The impressive Mehrangarh Fort is one of Jodhpur’s major attractions. Other popular places include Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jaswant Thada, Mandore Gardens, Clock Tower and Sardar Market. Jodhpur also offers opportunities to explore Bishnoi villages and experience traditional Rajasthani culture.
